Wall assemblies can be categorized into two types: Lumber (Lumber Wall Systems) and SIP (Wall Assembly Structural Insulated Products).
Lumber wall systems are composed of studs, headers, and sheathing:
Wall Assembly Studs Products - A vertical structural element for fabricating into wall assemblies which transfers vertical and/or lateral loads.
Wall Assembly Headers Products - A beam used over wall openings to carry loads across the opening.
Wall Assembly Sheathing Products - The structural covering placed directly over framing members which also serves to transfer loads into the wall studs. Wood structural panel sheathing is commonly 4’ x 8’.
SIP systems use engineered wall components in place of traditional wood frame construction. SIP systems provide advantages like better insulation and greater durability to seismic activity and strong winds.
Wall Product - An engineered wood product composed of laminated layers of Oriented Strand Board and Expanded Polystyrene insulation. Panels come in multiple sizes and are often custom manufactured with pre-made cut-outs for doors and windows.
